Australian Boomers head coach coach Brian Goorjian has told the Australian Associated Press that he expects the New Zealand Tall Blacks to "come out swinging" in the do-or-die second game of their best-of-three series on Wednesday.

The Tall Blacks find themselves one-nil down in the series after the Boomers took the opener in Melbourne on Monday, 79-67.

Another defeat for the Tall Blacks on Wednesday in Sydney will see the Boomers advance to the Beijing Olympics in 2008 while New Zealand would be forced to qualify through a repechage tournament featuring tough teams from the Americas and Europe.

Goorjian said that the Tall Blacks would undoubtedly come out in a physical frame of mind given their backs are to the wall.

"Anytime you're in this situation ... if you're down one game, in the first 10 minutes of game two you come out swinging," Goorjian told AAP's James Dampney.

"They've got a team that would be pretty good in that form."

"If we were going to win this series, at some point we were going to face that and I'm sure it'll be the first half of game two."

Tall Blacks point guard Mark Dickel told Dampney his teammates had already put Game One out of their minds.

"We just didn't look comfortable, we didn't feel comfortable out there," Dickel said.

"If we make some adjustments we'll come back, do better. We've just got to try and forget it and move on."

Game Three will be held in Brisbane on Friday.
