Razorback head coach Rob Beveridge will get his first real taste of true NBL basketball this weekend when his Westbus West Sydney Razorbacks team travel to the Gold Coast to play the Gold Coast Blaze in a pre-season game.

The Razorbacks are currently undefeated in their pre-season, however this weekend’s game against the Blaze is sure to provide Beveridge’s team with a much tougher hit-out. The Razorbacks are expected to be close to full strength for the game, with the team relishing the opportunity to showcase their new style of play against their counterparts from up north.

“I am really satisfied with where our team is currently at,” Beveridge commented. “In a way, we are in a similar situation to the Blaze in that we are like a new franchise starting out as we have new management , six new players, new coaching staff as well as a new style of basketball.”

Razorback’s import Troy DeVries is also excited about the prospect of playing against the NBL’s newest franchise.

“This will be a good test for us,” DeVries said. “We have been working very hard as a team and are looking to continue with our hard work this weekend by putting on a good show against the Blaze.”

The game will be played at The Southport School this Sunday 26th August, with tip-off expected at 2pm.
