After losing their opening game against the Santa Lucia Realtors, the Singapore Slingers have bounced back with a 52-point thrashing of the Jordan All-Stars on day three of the seventh annual Brunei Cup, 99-47.

Registering their first win for the tournament, the Slingers came out and produced a commanding lead that Jordan would never recover from. Throughout the first half the Jordan All-Stars had no answers for the Slingers onslaught.
Displaying a much more polished Slingers outfit, Head Coach Gordie McLeod showed why his squad has been tipped as a Brunei Cup favourite.

At no stage did the Jordan team looked settled as the Slingers defense caused demoralising turnovers and forced the All-Stars out of their offense.

Mike Helms came out and showed why he was last year’s Club MVP by displaying his trademark offensive skills, helping the Slingers to a 56-20 edge at halftime.

Outclassed throughout the match, the Jordan All-Stars tried to mount a valiant comeback effort but were shut down at every opportunity. The second half saw the Slingers actually push their lead out even further.

Captain of the Singapore Slingers, Ben Knight, was unstoppable on the floor dropping eight of his 21 points in the last quarter.

The Slingers’ victory over the Jordan All-Stars is the biggest winning margin in Brunei Cup history. They are now sitting equal with the Darwin Airport Resort All-Stars. The Darwin team beat the Sta. Lucia Realtors in their first game 82-67. The match up between the two teams should prove to be a contest.

The Slingers take on the Darwin Airport All-Stars on Wednesday night at 7pm.
