Ingles shines for Souths

Despite a close road loss to the New Zealand Breakers on Tuesday, the Dragons can find consolation in rookie Joe Ingles' glittering first-up performance.
Ingles' 29 point (and 7 rebounds, two assists) game on Tueday night was the highest scoring debut by an Australian in the NBL.
“He didn’t look like missing,” Dragons Captain Shane Heal told the Herald Sun’s Grantley Bernard.
“The confidence he had was incredible. I’ve said from the first day I scrimmaged with him that he was going to be a freak.
“The first half tonight he was unbelievable. He’s going to be a champion in this league and he’s probably got bigger and better things to do beyond three or four years time.
“He had that much poise and that much ability, defensively as well,” Heal added.
“He can change a game. He can average good numbers, but no ones done that in a long time.”
Coach Mark Price believes Ingles is on track to be a significant contributor for the Dragons.
“You’d think he’d be a little intimidated by the situation, but I think he’s too young to even think about it now. He just goes out and plays, and he’s going to be a fantastic player”
To compensate for demand, the Dragons have ordered extra replica jerseys that will go on sale via southdragons.com in the coming weeks.
The Dragons today travel to Canberra ahead of the Kings clash at AIS Arena. Melbourne fans can catch the game live on FOX SPORTS at 7:30PM.
