General punters, concession holders and families will benefit from a bold new pricing structure that includes unallocated general admission tickets and concession seating for less than $10 for new Victorian frandhise South Dragons home games at Vodafone Arena.

Under the pricing arrangement, an adult ticket is less than $20 ($19.95), a family of four can see a game for under $50 ($49.95), and a concession holder can sit close to the action for under $10 ($9.95).

Club Chairman Mark Cowan believes the pricing structure will place the new team favourably when competing against other forms of entertainment.

“We don’t see other sports as our competition, because Melbournians will see as much sport as they can get, provided it’s a good spectacle and the value is there,” said Cowan.

“The challenge for us is to provide an affordable alternative for people’s leisure time and we’re in direct competition with a night out at the movies, window shopping at Chadstone or sitting at home playing X-Box.”

Cowan says the pricing structure will make attendance attractive for the team‘s most important audience – those who play basketball.

“This franchise is about connecting with the Victorian basketball community and that starts by making our games inexpensive for those who play.

“I feel a concession for just under $10 or a family ticket for under $50 to watch us on the big stage at Vodafone Arena is good value.”

Commenting on the unallocated seating initiative, Cowan stated: “There’s nothing more frustrating for a fan than seeing the best seats in the house go begging because they’re too expensive.
