Price, who was short-listed amongst six international candidates for a head coaching role with the Dragons, will take in an NBL semi-final and a tour of prospective training venues amongst a number of face-to-face consultations with Dragons' management in a week-long visit.

"From an exhaustive interviewing process, Mark stood out as a candidate with an excellent understanding of basketball, and the vision required to start up a franchise," said Dragons' chairman Mark Cowan.

"In addition, all of Mark's referees spoke highly of his basketball knowledge and coaching credentials."

The Cleveland Cavalier's legend arrives in Melbourne on Monday and departs the following Sunday.

"Throughout his career Mark presented himself as the consummate professional both on and off the court, and we're excited to continue discussions with him," added Cowan.

"Whilst the Dragons remain committed to getting the best coach we can, it's important to state that Mark's not been offered a role, nor has he accepted a position with the club at this stage.

"For Mark, an opportunity to come to Melbourne presents a chance for him to assess living situations in Australia and we'll be showing him some schools, housing options and training facilities. Essentially we'll take this opportunity to portray the Melbourne lifestyle to Mark.

"Importantly, we're taking Mark to the Tigers semi-final game on Tuesday to show him the current standard of Australian basketball.

"It will also provide him an interesting perspective as to the sort of squad he'd need to recruit to be capable of beating the Tigers next season."

Accompanying Mark on his trip will be younger brother Brent, a ten-year NBA veteran who played seasons in Washington, Vancouver, Houston and Sacramento.
