Regarded by many to have the best hands in the league for a player of his size, Matt Burston is all set to make his debut for the South Dragons after fully recovering from an ankle reconstruction during the off-season.

Burston is jumping out of his skin to play on Sunday night in Ballarat, and is excited that his ankle is now completely pain-free after playing through pain for the last two years.

Speaking on Burston’s much-anticipated inclusion into the side, assistant coach Scott Ninnis said “Matt completed 2 competitive training sessions this week and got through them really well. He probably could of played on Wednesday night, but when we talked to the physio we thought it was best to give him one more match rest just as an extra precaution.” We didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks with Matt because he gives our side a real presence on court which is something we really need at the moment.”
