The pair scuffled in the fourth quarter in an incident that attracted every player on the court. Both players were ejected from the game and reported by referees straight after the match.

Bullets coach Joey Wright supported the referees' decision to remove Heal and Mackinnon from the game following the incident.

"The (ejections) were warranted both ways, they should have ejected both of them for that," Wright said, after the match.

"It was great for us, momentum swung and the Dragons may have scored four points after that so it was great for us, the guys got fired up.

"That's where that player-coach thing is hard because not only did they lose a player but they lost a coach as well."

Heal wasn't as accepting of the decision and said it was the culmination of the fiery nature of the game.

"I didn't feel it was warranted at all," he said.

"It all just happened so quickly. We got bumped the whole night and that was just another occasion where we got bumped and we both went to the ground and it was a scuffle from there.

"I think with everyone else jumping in and pulling everyone apart, it probably looked a lot worse that it was.

"We were man-handled all night. Brisbane pushed us around from the very start and they got away with a lot.

"They just kept wanting to push and tangle and hold and I guess when you're allowed to get away with that, obviously things are going to happen."

Heal and Mackinnon have until 5pm (AEDT) on Monday to decide whether to attend a formal hearing with NBL tribunal chairman Ken Madsen or have the matter heard via a telephone link.

NBL General Manager of Operations Chuck Harmison confirmed that the players will be eligible to play for their respective clubs in the meantime.

The Bullets play the Tigers in Melbourne on Saturday night and the Dragons host Sydney on Monday.
