Randolph nailed the winning basket with just 21 seconds remaining, as the Trailblazers improved to a 7-12 record, and sent the Pistons to a record of 11-7.

In Los Angeles, Elton Brand continued his stellar start to the season in scoring 33 points and pulling down 17 rebounds, as he led the Los Angeles Clippers to a 101-97 victory over the Miami Heat.

Dwayne Wade tried hard to keep his side in the match, scoring 33 points for the Heat, but Brand and Cuttino Mobley (21 points) steadied to improve the Clippers record to 9-8, while the Heat drops to a disappointing 7-10.

Canadian born Steve Nash dished out an NBA season-high 20 assists as the Phoenix Suns thrashed the Sacramento Kings 127-102.

Nash scored 11 points, and had help from Leandro Barbosa (26 points), Shawn Marion (23 points) and Amare Stoudemire (17 points) as the Suns never gave the Kings a winning chance.

Mike Bibby tried hard with 21 points for the Kings, but he couldn't help his side slip to a record of 8-9, while the Suns improve to 10-6.

In other matches the Dallas Mavericks proved far too strong for the New Jersey Nets 92-75, the Houston Rockets thrashed the Golden State Warriors 118-90 and the Seattle Supersonics outlasted the Atlanta Hawks 102-87.
