Coach Frank Woodhouse is very confident about the coming season. “Whilst we look to have lost a couple of players from last year, we have certainly picked up some more than adequate replacements. We should also be boosted by a full season from the likes of Johnny Greig and Shannon Kendall. Matt Cannon will also be more available this year after his knee surgery of last season and Marcello Calderon is putting in a huge pre-season”.

In Youth League, coach John Dunlop who was Coach of the Year in YL2 for 2006, is very impressed with the quality he will have to work with in 2007. “The number and quality of players trying out was up substantially on last year which has placed pressure on the incumbent players to hold their place. Sherbrooke’s junior program is to be commended on the standard of player coming through” coach Dunlop stated.

With the Division 2 women’s team, Sherbrooke has been very fortunate to acquire the services of Rob Baldwin, who has brought with him a number of players from the now defunct Monash Uni team. Rob has been putting the players thru a varied pre-season and has included a number of Sherbrooke Juniors in the roster. “We are seriously looking at playing in the finals this season” Rob determined.

President Mick Spruhan was very enthusiastic when asked about Sherbrooke’s prospects for the coming year. “We continue to build a quality program, which in turn attracts quality people” he stated. “The opportunity for our juniors both male and female to play basketball at a high level has never been greater and with quality coaches throughout our program, this can only enhance our already growing reputation.”
