Go west
23/01/2007
Fresh from their six-point victory over West Sydney at Dandenong Stadium on Saturday, the South Dragons returned to the road this week for an open training session at Werribee Sports and Fitness Centre.
Over 300 basketball fans turned out to see their Philips Championship idols finetune their skills ahead of tomorrow night’s clash with the Brisbane Bullets.
With the local season just about under way for 2007, supporters young and old were out in force on Monday afternoon to gain some helpful hints from the Dragons line-up and basketball development manager Michele Timms.
Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, St Andrews and Corpus Christi clubs were well represented by young stars keen to show off their skills before the season kicks off.
Michele Timms conducted a series of skills drills throughout the afternoon, with a great range of Dragons’ merchandise awarded to enthusiastic participants – western basketball fans have never looked so good!
The Dragons trained for almost two hours before taking a well-earned break to chat with their supporters, sign autographs and pose for photographs.
All who attended the session left with a share of the Dragons’ merchandise on offer throughout the day, from complimentary signed posters to t-shirts, drink bottles, stress balls and more.
The Dragons will wrap up their NBA-style ‘Back to the ‘Burbs’ community program on Monday February 5, with an open session at Coburg Basketball Stadium. Don’t miss your last chance for season ’06-’07 to get up close and personal with your favourite Dragons stars!
