A starring role from Australian big man Andrew Bogut was not enough to propel Milwaukee to victory over Dallas with the Mavericks' marquee player Dirk Nowitzki shooting 38 points to lead his team to a 99-93 win.

Bogut scored 16 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the Bucks, which held a 16-point lead during the second half, before Dallas - which holds the NBA's best record at 43-9 - outscored its opposition 28-11 in the fourth quarter.

Bogut was one of the main reasons the Bucks held an early lead, racking up his double-double with five minutes remaining in the first half.

Dallas has now won 29 of its last 31 games, including eight in succession.

In Chicago, the Toronto Raptors blew a 12-point fourth-quarter lead before recovering to beat the Bulls 112-111 thanks to two free throws from Chris Bosh with 2.1 seconds left in the game.

Bosh finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds, while Andrea Bargnani had 22 points. For the Bulls, Luol Deng scored 30 points and Ben Gordon 26.

Tracy McGrady and Ron Artest went head-to-head as the Houston Rockets overcame Sacramento 109-104 in overtime to secure their eighth victory in 10 games.

McGrady shot 28 points - 12 in the last four minutes of regulation time - while Artest had a career-high 39 points.

In Memphis, the Grizzlies downed the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets 108-104 with Mike Miller leading the way with 22 points, Chucky Atkins adding 19, Rudy Gay 18 and Hakim Warrick 15.

Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade overcame a bruised left shoulder to single-handedly lead his team to a 104-85 victory against Portland.

Wade shot 35 points, even outscoring the Trailblazers by himself in the fourth quarter.

The San Antonio Spurs, sparked by a 20-0 run to start the second quarter, ran away from the injury-hit New Jersey Nets and record a 107-82 win.

Tony Parker scored 19 points with Manu Ginobili adding 14 and Michael Finley 15 for San Antonio.

For the Nets, who were missing Jason Kidd and two other starters, Vince Carter was the leading scorer with 18 points.

New York upset the LA Lakers 107-106 with Eddy Curry scoring a dunk in the final seven seconds to see his team home.

LA star Kobe Bryant (31 points) put the Lakers in front with 30 seconds on the clock, but Curry made his shot in the dying seconds to give the Knicks their third win in four games.

Jamal Crawford led New York with 24 points, as Quentin Richardson scored 19, Channing Frye 14 and David Lee 12.
