Tim Duncan contributed 23 points and eight rebounds and Francisco Elson added 12 and a season-high 18 boards as the San Antonio Spurs ended the Detroit Pistons seven game winning streak with a 90-81 victory.

Manu Ginobili scored 20 points for San Antonio, who finished its annual eight game road trip at 4-4.

Tony Parker scored 16 points and grabbed eight assists but made his biggest impact in setting up the secondary fast break.

Parker got his team into their offence quickly and was able to ignite San Antonio, which shot 51 per cent (36-of-71).

Duncan shot 9-of-18 from the field and Elson was an efficient 8-of-8, while Richard Hamilton scored 20 points and Chauncey Billups added 19 for the Pistons, who shot just 41 per cent (32-of-78).

In other results, Toronto downed New Jersey 120-109, Washington beat Philadelphia 92-85, Charlotte accounted for Chicago 100-85 while Orlando was 103-91 victors over Portland.

Indiana enjoyed a strong 114-104 win over Memphis, struggling Boston thrashed Milwaukee 117-97, New Orleans defeated Sacramento 110-93 and Minnesota recorded a narrow 99-94 result over Denver.

Other winners were Utah against Cleveland (99-98), Seattle over Phoenix (114-90), Atlanta and Golden State.
