The individual honours cap a superb season for the three Dragons stars, each of whom played a key role in seeing the club to the playoffs in its debut year.

Ellis was today named Most Valuable Player, Hobba was voted Most Improved and Jacob Holmes has taken out the Members’ Award for all-round achievement. Voting was open to all South Dragons members.

Ellis ended the 2006-‘07 season with 484 points, 305 rebounds, 39 assists.

Although he was constantly outsized by the opposition, Ellis was rarely outplayed; the 6"5' American finished the year ranked number one for offensive and total rebounds, number two for defensive boards and was inside the top 10 block count in the league.

The rise of Brent Hobba – this year’s Most Improved – is one of the most exciting stories to emerge from the Dragons’ camp.

Signed to the South Dragons as a tenth man, Hobba came to play an increased role with the team as the season progressed.

Hobba ended the season with 140 points, 62 boards, 14 assists. In the Round 21 clash with Adelaide he scored an impressive 20 points and was instrumental in securing the South Dragons’ win.

"I'm really excited to have made an impact on the team and it's great to see how much support we've had in our first year in the competition," Hobba said.

"I'm honoured to be a part of the team and grateful to have been given the opportunity to join the club.

"The South Dragons fans are the best in the league and the support we got throughout the year, especially at home games, was incredible."

Hobba is one of the first players to be signed to the club for 2007-’08.

Jacob Holmes has been rewarded for his efforts with the club by taking out the Members’ Award for all-round achievement.

Holmes tallied 310 points, 287 boards and 59 assists for the season and finished inside the league’s top 10 for defensive and total boards.

Holmes proved a hit both on the court and off, impressing supporters with his determined defence and proving a favourite with members at all club events.

"It's a huge honour to be voted the members' favourite in the South Dragons' first year," Holmes said.

"We place a huge emphasis on our relationship with the members because they're our strongest fans and the fans who put in the most for the team, so its great to hear that they're happy with the work we put it in and hopefully that will continue for many years to come."
