Jackson sets new high
13/03/2007
World champion Opals' skipper Lauren Jackson scored a league record and career-high 56 points in the Women's Korean Basketball League (WKBL) on Monday (AEDT).
Jackson also pulled in an intimidating 17 rebounds as Samsung Bichumi defeated Kumho Redwings 96-76.
The previous WKBL scoring record for a single game was 50, set by former Kumho import forward American Sheri Sam in February 2002.
Jackson's previous career scoring high, in any league, was a 48-point performance for the Canberra Capitals against Perth in the WNBL during 2003.
Less than a fortnight ago she also posted 47 points in Samsung's victory over the Shinsegae Coolcats, with that score surpassing her previous WKBL records of 40 and 39 points.
