The Golden State Warriors have caused one of the biggest upsets of the NBA season by breaking the Dallas Mavericks' 17-match winning streak with a 117-100 victory.

The Warriors shot out of the blocks, taking an early 8-0 lead, and despite the Mavs drawing level at quarter-time at 33-33, the Warriors exploded clear to record the upset win.

Frenchman Mickael Pietrus top-scored for the Warriors with 20 points, but it was a strong team performance with Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Jason Richardson and Andris Biedrins all registering 16 points.

Jason Terry and Devin Harris both netted 16 points for the Mavericks, but German star Dirk Nowitzki was quiet by his standards with just 13 points, while Josh Howard managed just 11.

In Milwaukee, Andrew Bogut managed just six points as the Milwaukee Bucks were thrashed 108-93 by the Toronto Raptors.

Although Michael Redd (29 points) and Charlie Bell (25 points) tried hard for the Bucks, it was the hot shooting of Chris Bosh (25 points) and TJ Ford (19 points) which steered the in-form Raptors to the victory.

In Phoenix, it was reserve point guard Leandro Barbosa that sparked the Phoenix Suns into action with 32 points as the Suns overpowered the Houston Rockets 103-82.

Boris Diaw (15 points) and Shawn Marion (14 points) provided ample support to Barbosa, while Tracy McGrady top-scored for the Rockets with 19 points.

Coming off a 37-point game against the Orlando Magic, Rockets centre Yao Ming was held to just 10 points by the Suns, as the Chinese superstar managed a pitiful one-of-nine from the field.

In other matches the Charlotte Hornets proved too strong for the Magic 119-108 and the New Jersey Nets overpowered the Memphis Grizzlies 113-102.
