The Hawks led by 11 points at half-time, and a 25-8 third term gave them a 28-point lead at three-quarter-time.

Although the Kings won the final quarter 26-21, the Hawks ran out comfortable winners with Childress, Zaza Pachulia (23 points) and Josh Smith (nine points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists) all contributing.

For the Kings, Corliss Williamson top-scored with 14 points, Kevin Martin hit 13, and Ron Artest nailed 12, but point-guard Mike Bibby was held to just five points.

In Oklahoma City, a superb 31-9 second quarter sparked the New Orleans Hornets into action as they thrashed the Boston Celtics 106-88.

After trailing by five points at quarter time, Rasual Butler (18 points), Tyson Chandler (16 points) and Chris Paul (15 points) all found their shooting touch as the Hornets exploded away from a disappointing Celtics outfit.

Paul Pierce was the only shining light for Boston with 28 points, while Allan Ray (12 points) and Gerald Green (11 points) were the only other players to reach double figures for the Celtics.

The Hornets progress to a 30-37 win-loss record, and are one-and-a-half wins behind the Golden State Warriors for the final playoff position in the Western Conference.
