New Waverley recruit Carleigh Evans has been named the BigV Championship Women's Player of the Week for Week 1 of BigV Competition.
Evans, who joined the Falcons from Eltham this year, came off the bench and more than repaid the faith her new club has shown in her.
She finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in under 30 minutes of playing time.
Evans shot better than most in the opening game of the season - making her ffield goal attempts at 50% and nailing 70% of her free throws.
The Falcons took out a close game at Dandenong.
Evans had some good quality opposition for the opening round award including team mate Julie deGroot, new Hume City player Naomi Pedro and Eltham's debutant Alice Kunek, who hit nine of 11 shots off the bench for a 21 point return against Coburg.
