The Utah Jazz responded to its last round loss by defeating struggling Memphis, while the Clippers were too good for Washington in a closely fought affair.

Having been smashed by the Clippers in its last match, Utah seemed determined to return to the winner's list as it brushed past a travel shy Grizzlies' outfit 118-108.

Carlos Boozer scored 28 points and chipped in with a further 15 rebound while Matt Harpring netted 24 and Deron Williams 21 with 13 assists as the Jazz won its fifth consecutive home match.

Dahntay Jones scored a career-high 26 points for the Grizzlies yet it was not enough to take Memphis to a much-need victory, as the Tennessee side, which has a 5-29 record away from home, stares ahead at a five match roadtrip.

Corey Magette has scored nine of his 29 points in the final 77 seconds as the LA Clippers earned themselves a narrow 111-105 win in Washington.

Elton Brand also scored 18 points and took 14 rebounds as the Clipppers won their fourth consecutive match to move one game ahead of the Golden State Warriors in the race for the final Western conference playoff spot.

The Philadelphia 76ers put a tepid start behind them as they raced all over the Miami Heat, scoring 59 points to 36 in the second half to claim a 93-85 victory, while Vince Carter saved the day for New Jersey as the Nets pulled off a dramatic 113-107 overtime win over an undermanned Charlotte Bobcats outfit.

With New Jersey trailing deep into the final minute Jason Kidd launched a long shot at the basket that Carter intercepted and dunked on the buzzer to force the match into extra time, where the Nets came out on top to snap a three match losing sequence.
