Former Sydney King, Frank Drmic, the man once touted as the next Andrew Gaze, is in the sights of the South Dragons as the NBL's newest franchise continues its search for players.

The 28-year-old with the South East Melbourne Magic, Victoria Titans and Sydney from 1996 to 2002, before spending a few years in the European leagues, before moving to Queensland to play in the Australian Basketball Association with former North Melbourne Giants and Brisbane coach Bruce Palmer.

But he is reportedly keen to return to Melbourne with his wife Leanne and their two young children.

"I really can't wait to come back and play in the NBL," Drmic told the Herald Sun. "I have just got to decide what team, what coach best suits me."

"Obviously it's an important decision in my career, one of the most important ones I have made to date."

"I have got a few offers," he said of approaches from Perth, Townsville and Sydney as well.

But Drmic is limited in the number of clubs he can choose from as he has a 10-point player rating because the former Boomer has played in Europe.

He is entitled to command top dollar, which would make him a good fit for the Dragons, who certainly have room under their cap, with the club yet to sign a player.
