The BigV are again throwing their support behind the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children's Hospital and are excited to announce that the VJBL and Basketball Victoria have joined in with the 2007 promotion.

Last year 1802 free throws were made in a single weekend of BigV competition and all clubs supported the appeal by donating $1.00 for every free throw made.

The BigV and Basketball Victoria matched those donations dollar for dollar and along with generous donations from BigV fans, over $6000 was eventually raised for the appeal.

2007 will be bigger and better.

The VJBL and their clubs have thrown their weight behind the effort and with over 500 games being played between the two major Victorian leagues, a huge response is expected.

Backing up the promotion, all competing teams have been issued with temporary tattoos bearing the "free throws for kids" wordmark. All players in all competitions will wear these tattoos this weekend and once again a dollar will be donated to the appeal for every free throw made.

This weekend, March 31 and April 1st, has been set aside for the appeal.

Selected venues will also have tattoos available for fans to purchase at a cost of $1.00 so fans can also show their support for the appeal.

Big V President Darryl Neal said his clubs had enthusiastically embraced the concept in 2006 and he was looking forward to some great support in 2007.

"Our clubs told as at the AGM that this was a cause they really wanted to back as a league - we're making sure they can do just that".

VJBL Chair Niall Quinn was similarly enthusiastic.

"Our clubs embraced this the minute they were offered the opportunity - its just great that this in this competition, which comprises nearly 10,000 junior athletes - we are supporting the Hospital that supports them."

Basketball Victoria is coordinating the effort and will collectively present the final donation to the appeal.
