2007 Australia Post Boomers squad member Luke Schenscher has been signed by the Portland Trailbalzers for the remainder of the 2006/07 NBA season, it was announced today.

Portland originally signed Schenscher to a 10-day contract from the NBA Development League’s Fort Worth Flyers on March 15 before re-signing him to a second 10-day contract on March 25.

To date, Schenscher has appeared in two games for the Trail Blazers, averaging 1.0 point and 1.5 rebounds in 3.5 minutes.

In 34 games (31 starts) with the Flyers this season, the 7-1, 265-pounder averaged 9.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.20 blocked shots, while shooting .512 from the floor

2007 Australia Post Boomers squad member Luke Schenscher has signed his second 10-day contract with the Portland Trailblazers in the National Basketball Association (NBA), effective today.

Portland originally signed Schenscher, the 16th Gatorade Call-Up of the NBA season, to a 10-day contract from the NBA Development League’s Fort Worth Flyers on March 15.

Schenscher, 25, has appeared in one game for the Trail Blazers, grabbing two rebounds in four minutes off the bench in Portland’s 92-86 win at New York on March 22.

Prior to signing the first contract, Schenscher was averaging 9.6 points and 6.9 rebounds in 23 minutes per game for the Flyers.

The 7 foot 2 centre played 20 games for the Chicago Bulls last year, averaging 1.8 points (61% field shooting) and 1.5 rebounds in 7.5 minutes per game.
