We tabbed him as one of the players to watch in 2007, and so far he's proved us right - as Simon Conn earns his first ever POTW honour for BigV Championship Men.

Conn impressed plenty on Saturday night, as Sandringham comfortably defeated Waverley at home, and their star centre finished with a big haul.

Conn hit 39 points on 15 of 22 shooting, and was perfect from the line making nine of nine free throws.

To back it up he hauled in 18 rebounds, blocked six shots and dished out four assists while collecting just a single turnover in an ultra-efficient performance.

The Sabres improved to 2-1, while the Falcon's finished their weekend 2-2 bouncing back to win against Ringwood at home on Sunday.

Conn's competition for the weekly gong was noteworthy with Warrnambool's Tim Gainey having his best game of the year with 39 against Melbourne, Brent Hoobba dropping 40 on Eltham and Luke Egan doing his but for the Wildcats.

Championship Women POTW: Tess Feery

The Waverley Falcon's championship women's team have made an undefeated start to their 2007 campaign, and thanks in no small part to the contribution of Tess Feery, who has been named the league's player of the week for Week 3.

Feery led they way in one of the weekends biggest games when her Falcons side confronted defedning champion Sandringham at the Sabres stadium.

Not only did she top score for her team, hitting 26, she did it at 62.5%, making 10 of 16 shots. Feery also collected three assists, four steals and four rebounds, as Waverley got a critical four point win.

Next day Feery played well again as the Falcon's comfortably defeated Bulleen - Feery finishing with ten points and a couple more steals in limited court time.

For the weekend she managed an outstanding FG% of 58%, and is currently shooting at 57% for the season, and is seventh on the league-wide top scorers table.

There were again some quality players in the mix for the weekly award, with Hume City's Kellie Burbridge also hitting 26, Lauren Bennet starring for Geelong and Feery's team mate julie deGroot again performing well.
