Golden State and the Los Angeles Clippers remain alive in the battle for the last remaining playoff berth in the Western Conference after both clubs recorded wins in NBA action on Tuesday.

The Warriors (41-40) stayed in the box seat in eighth place one game ahead of the Clippers (40-41) when they easily defeated a Dallas Mavericks' side that was without a host of stars including Dirk Nowitzki.

Seven players reached double figures for Golden State with Mickael Pietrus leading the way on 22 points as the Warriors leapt out to an early lead before easing to the 111-82 win at home in Oakland.

The Clippers had to do it the hard way though and were pushed all the way by the Suns in Phoenix before Jason Hart iced the win with four points from the foul line inside the last seven seconds.

Despite having already sealed their own playoff berth, the Suns resisted the temptation to rest their regular starters, but still couldn't hold out the Clippers who were led by Elton Brand with 22 points.

The clincher of the final playoff berth now won't be revealed until the conclusion of the last regular season matches on Wednesday with Golden State needing to defeat the Trailblazers in Portland to hold out the Clippers who host New Orleans/Oklahoma City.

In action elsewhere around the country, Josh Smith (25 points, 13 rebounds) led the Hawks to a 118-102 win over the Pacers in Atlanta, the Magic prevailed 95-89 over the Wizards in Washington despite 48 points from Antawn Jamison and Cleveland downed the 76ers 98-92 in Philadelphia.

Detroit defeated the Raptors 100-84 at home in the remaining fixture which meant little to either club with both locked into their respective playoff spots.
