With an 11-7 career head to head record, including five consecutive victories, Geelong will be confident of recording another victory against Hobart this weekend. Supercats currently sit atop the East Men ladder with a 7-0 record, have an average winning margin of 18, and are by far the standout team of the season. Dean Brebner is the sixth player averaging double figure points for the Supercats, but will need to be at his best defensively in this game. His likely opponent will be Chargers quality veteran Mark Nash.

Mt Gambier “Star FM” Pioneers vs Knox Ford Raiders
With the inclusion of second import John Bryant, and the return to form of CJ Massingale, Knox Raiders coach Damian Cotter will be keen to continue their recent form with another win on the road at “the Icehouse”. Injury to star forward Craig Simpson leaves the Raiders line-up very inexperienced in the frontcourt, with only youngsters Rosa, Melenhorst and Healey to support Bryant in the key. With the Pioneers import duo (Blankson & Lewis) in form and Coach Jason Sedlock giving productive contributions off the bench, the Pioneers will look to exploit the Raiders weakness in the frontcourt.

Albury/Wodonga “Bendigo Bank” Bandits vs Bendigo “Telstra” Braves
Bandits coach Jim Wilson and the rest of his team will be hell bent on securing the victory this week, to enjoy the fantastic achievements of locally developed players Nick Payne (19.7ppg, 3.1apg) and Luke McKerrow. Both play milestone games, and will be keen for victory and to put a stop to the Braves four game winning streak. Bendigo defeated Albury/Wodonga 90-89 in round four, but it was a game the Bandits should not have lost, and will be seeking revenge this week.

“Searson Buck” NW Tasmania Thunder vs “St Laurence” Geelong Supercats
Geelong Coach Mark Leader will need to change his usual defensive strategy of a zone all game, as the Thunder team are keen shooters from behind the three point arc. League leading scorer Troy deVries (29.3ppg, 5.2rpg), Sam Armstrong and Scott McGaffin can all hit the three bomb with success, and if the Supercats play their customary zone all game, they may just struggle to hold onto victory.

“Arrow Caravans” Southern District Spartans vs Canberra “BOA” Gunners
Behind five consecutive victories the Spartans have moved into fourth position and victory this week over Canberra will see them elevate further up the ladder. Canberra struggled offensively without MVP favourite Anthony Petrie (25.4ppg, 12.0rpg, 3.0apg) last week, but with him returning to the line-up this week, will look to put a stop to the Southern Districts recent win streak. Southern Districts have seven players averaging double figures, and have many different scoring options making it difficult for opposition teams. However Canberra is a solid defensive team and wins most games due to the intense in your face defence they play.

Knox Ford Raiders vs Australian Institute of Sport
AIS scholarship holders Jordan Page and Nathan Crombie will get their first taste of SEABL action, as AIS coach Marty Clarke brings a very inexperienced team on the road this weekend. Australian Boomer Patrick Mills (22.6ppg, 5.1apg), Ogilvy, Louis and Dowdell are the only multiple year scholarship holders travelling with the remaining six all first year players. Knox currently holds a three game winning streak against the AIS at Knox Converse Stadium, but may struggle against the height of the AIS. Raiders only have import John Bryant (15.5ppg, 8.0rpg) at 201cm, and the AIS have six players 201cm and/or taller.

Frankston “Cambur” Blues vs Club Kilsyth Cobras
After consecutive losses to Mt Gambier in recent weeks, coach Grant Wallace has some work to do, as the season is slowly slipping away from him. Cobras have a talented team, with an array of quality players, but are struggling to put the wins on the board. Frankston are 5-0 against South Men teams this season, but have struggled against Kilsyth in recent years, losing their past two matches at home. Cobras will be hoping history can repeat and they can secure the win and put a stop to their current losing streak and get back into the winner’s circle.

Bendigo “Telstra” Braves vs Ballarat “RetireInvest” Miners
If you think the AFL rivalry between Carlton and Collingwood is huge, then you haven’t been to a Bendigo vs Ballarat game. Both teams lift to another level for this clash, and the passion of all players is extremely intense. As a newcomer to the Ballarat organisation, Coach Matt Shanahan has been made clear by all involved with the Miners about the strong rivalry between the two clubs. After dropping the first clash between the two teams 90-99 in round five, Ballarat will be hoping to reverse the result and return the Advertiser/Courier Cup back to Ballarat for the remainder of the season.

With three consecutive losses, Nunawading have tumbled to sixth position and will be looking to end their current form slump with a victory at home this weekend. Spectres big man Jason Eversteyn (14.0ppg, 13.rpg, 2.4bpg) started the season in scintillating form, but has dropped in recent weeks. Eversteyn will need to be at his best this week against AIS star Andrew Ogilvy (15.9ppg, 5.6rpg). Both players play crucial roles for their respective team, and their duel in the paint will impact greatly on the games final outcome.
