Mile high
19/04/2007
The South Dragons yesterday joined forces with some of the biggest names in sport to help launch the Go for Your Life Mile, the newest, most adventurous fundraising event in town.
Jacob Holmes joined Carlton legend Anthony Koutoufides, netball star Sharelle McMahon, Victorian Bushrangers Alan Wise and Nick Jewell and Bluey Day Foundation ambassador Tyler Fishlock in launching the event at Princes Park.
To be held on June 10, 2007, the Go for Your Life Mile aims to raise funds for grassroots sport and the Bluey Day appeal.
With just eight weeks to go before the event kicks off, now is the time for all sports clubs, community groups, schools, police stations and emergency services crews to start training for a day of fun-filled activity and entertainment.
The South Dragons will be out in force on the day to cheer participants along the 1.6km course. Walk, jog or run the Princes Park circuit in your club colours or fancy dress to join in the day’s celebration!
All clubs need to do is sign up a minimum 20 members willing to raise sponsorship to run the Mile. Fifty per cent of all funds raised will stay right with the club, with the remainder donated to the Bluey Day Foundation and a small cut set aside for administration of the event.
This year the Go for Your Life Mile aims to involve at least 10,000 people – YOU could be one of them! Visit www.goforyourlifemile.com.au to register your club.
