Noonan takes over from Matthew Cowling, who left the organisation on March 16.

League President Darryl Neal said he was looking forward to working with Noonan.

"We conducted a wide search, with over 50 candidates for the role; Brad impressed us and the whole board is looking forward to him making a positive contribution to the league. "

Noonan comes to the league with a background in the administration of football, as well as in coaching basketball.

His most recent role was as Football Administration Manager with the Carlton Football Club, but prior to that Noonan had experience as GM of the Northern Bullants in the VFL and as Football Administration Officer with the VFL, with a key role in the administration of the TAC Cup and VFL competitions.

"It was important we found someone who really understood the management of an elite sporting league, and Brad's background with the VFL satisfied us that he had an understanding of the day to day operations of this type of organisation."

"While the BigV is a very different competition, the principles are very similar, and we are sure Brad will be able to apply some of his knowledge to the benefit of our league" Neal said.

Noonan spent time with Coburg and Parade College basketball programs, which will ensure an understanding of some of the different issues in basketball.

In the short term, Noonan will share his time between the BigV's current office location in Geelong and in Melbourne, and part of that will be preparing the move of the office to Melbourne.

His other major task will be the immediate recruitment of a full time media manager, with the league splitting the former CEO's position into two new roles - GM and Media Manager.
