On a cold night in Mount Gambier the Gunners took control after the opening few minutes, playing better team basketball to edge out to a 10-point lead at the quarter break. The second quarter was all Gunners, storming out to a 30-point lead. The Pioneers showed something in the third quarter but by the final term they had nothing left and the Gunners again ran over the top to win.

Scores were close for most of the game with Canberra maintaining a small lead during the first half. Kilsyth took the lead in the third quarter before Canberra fought back in the fourth, with the lead changing hands a number of times until the final few minutes when Kilsyth landed a string of late goals.

The game between the Miners and the AIS proved to be a very entertaining one with Australia's youngest talent going up against the very experienced Miners outfit. The AIS went basket for basket with the Miners in the first half through some great inside work from AIS big man Daniel Johnson, and went into the main break 62 a piece. In the second half the AIS threatened to break away but through the determination of Brett Goodgame the Miners stayed within touch to be three points down with 25 seconds left in the game. Ballarat's last-gasp shot didn't fall, handing the AIS the victory.
