The Utah Jazz have completed a stunning comeback, sending the highly-fancied Houston Rockets crashing out of the playoffs 4-3 after a 103-99 win in game seven on Saturday.

The Rockets were in control going into the third game of the series, leading 2-0, but Tracy McGrady and his team could only managed one of the next five games, going down to an inexperienced Jazz outfit.

Carlos Boozer did it again for the Jazz hitting 35 points, 14 rebounds and five assists, continuing his outstanding post-season form. Boozer got good support from Deron Williams who contributed 20 points and 14 assists.

For the Rockets it was the usual suspects, with McGrady adding 29 and giving off 14 assists, while Yao Ming also scored 29.

With little to separate the sides, Boozer proved the difference in the dying seconds, pulling down two crucial offensive boards and hitting two freethrows moments later to ice the game.

The Rockets trailed by 16 late in the first half and looked as though they might bow out of the playoffs without whimper but McGrady and Yao led a Houston revival after the break, hitting 13 of the first 15 points of the third term to close the gap to just four.

But the Jazz steadied through Boozer and went into the final term with a 75-67 lead.

Again it was McGrady and Yao who dragged the Rockets back into the contest, starting the side on a 7-0 run to stay in touch.

A three-pointer from Rafer Alston and a three-point play from Yao gave the Rockets a 88-85 lead, but the Jazz hit back almost immediately through an Andrei Kirilenko three-pointer and then took the lead with another bomb from Mehmet Okur.

The Rockets cut that lead back to one with two minute on the clock but Boozer's heroics saw the Jazz across the line in a thriller.

The Jazz now play the Golden State Warriors who also pulled off a stunning upset to move through to the second round of the post season, beating championship favourites the Dallas Mavericks.

In the other Saturday game, the Detroit Piston sent the Chicago Bulls crashing back to earth with a 95-69 thrashing in game one of their second-round playoff series. Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups were the heroes for the Pistons, both players adding 20 points, while for the Bulls Luol Deng hit 18 points.
