Suns level series at 1-1
10/05/2007
The Phoenix Suns drew level with the San Antonio Spurs at one game each and the Cleveland Cavaliers jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the New Jersey Nets in NBA playoff action.

The Suns shrugged off a home court loss in the opening game of the series to accelerate away from the Spurs in the second half and take the second game of the Western Conference semi final, 101-81, with Amare Stoudemire leading the way with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting.

The performance of Steve Nash was also instrumental in the win, dishing out 16 assists to go with his 20 points, while Shawn Marion pulled down 10 boards.

Tim Duncan played a lone hand for the Spurs with a game-high 29 points and 11 rebounds with the series now headed to Texas for game three.

Scores were level at 81-81 with 8:15 left in regulation in Cleveland, but the Cavaliers pulled away to record a 102-92 win over the Nets and take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semi final series.

LeBron James was the dominant player on the court with 36 points, 12 assists and three steals, while Drew Gooden was the leading rebounder with 14 boards to go with his 10 points.

Vince Carter top-scored for the Nets despite radar problems that saw him make just 10-of-26 shots to finish with 26 points with Richard Jefferson next-best on 22 as the series heads to New Jersey.
