AIS vs Canberra
With a 23-20 overall head-to-head advantage and a 111-97 victory in Round 7, the AIS boys will go into this contest confident of securing a victory. Dowdell, Mills and Ogilvy returned to the line-up last week and outplayed the more experienced Hobart line-up. Gunners coach Frank Arsego will be keen to have Paul Denman back in the line-up for this game as he destroyed the AIS youngsters in Round 7.
Patrick Mills (AIS) – 32pts to 1000

Hobart vs Ballarat
The Miners are 0-5 on the road this season, but coach Matt Shanahan believes in his team and will be determined to secure the win this week. Miners veterans Ricky Daniels and Eric Hayes were outstanding in the Round 7 win and will need to fire again this week for the Miners to be successful.

AIS vs Soutern Districts
Southern Districts secured a 110-91 victory in Round 5, thanks largely to the efforts of ex-AIS scholarship holder Adam Gibson (20.6ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.9apg). His battle in the back court with Australian Boomers squad member Pat Mills (24.0ppg, 5.6rpg, 5.8apg) is sure to have a major impact on the game's final outcome. Both players, if given the opportunity, are capable of winning a game on their own.

Geelong vs Kilsyth
Kilsyth have an impressive 8-6 record against Geelong and are playing consistent basketball at last, recording a two-game win streak and jumping to third position on the South Men's ladder. Shane Bright returned to the SEABL last week with Kilsyth to cover the injury to David Smith. His
experience and overall leadership is a bonus for the Cobras, and coach Grant Wallace will be keen to give the Supercats their first loss this season.

NW Tasmania vs Ballarat
After a disappointing 0-2 weekend on the mainland, NW Tasmania will be keen to record a victory this week and hopefully move back into the conference top four. Miners have had great success over NW Tasmania in the past and have defeated the Thunder in seven of their last nine contests.

Albury/Wodonga vs Knox
Knox have won their past two matches at Albury Sports Stadium, and will go into this contest fairly confident despite losing 73-87 to the Bandits in Round 5. The Raiders were out-rebounded 39-51 in the Round 5 contest but the addition of second import John Bryant (16.6ppg, 8.2rpg)
should help rectify this problem. Raiders' Craig Simpson has had two weeks rest due to the bye last week and should be over his niggling injury. His productivity is vital to the Raiders' success this year.

Bendigo vs Frankston
Both teams are currently on a two-game winning streak and quietly going about their business. David Gruber (25.4ppg, 12.4rpg, 2.4bpg) continues to lead Frankston in each game, but valuable contributions from Timmons, Strzebonski and Harms in recent weeks has given opposition coaches many concerns, as the Blues now have four major offensive threats. Bendigo however relies heavily on the offensive production of sharp shooter Mick Hill, and the Blues will need to contain him at the defensive end.

Canberra vs Southern Districts
Southern Districts thrashed the Gunners 119-83 in Round 8, and will be keen for a repeat performance to build a gap on the opposition on the tight East Men's ladder. Spartans are trying to get insurance concerns sorted out for Australian Boomer Sam Mackinnon to take the court this week as he has replaced the injured Greg Vanderjagt in the line-up. Should he play, it will be interesting to see his battle in the paint with new NBL signee Anthony Petrie.

Kilsyth vs Frankston
Frankston destroyed Kilsyth 108-84 in Round 8 earlier this season, and will be keen to record the clean sweep against their Victorian rivals. David Gruber totally out-played the Cobras in Round 8 with 34pts, 14rebs and 4blks and will be a defensive priority for Cobras big men Cameron,
Bridgewater and Burgess.

Nunawading vs Bendigo
Shane McDonald had a disappointing game in Round 11 and will be keen to produce another Player of the Week performance against the South Men's ladder-leaders Bendigo. Braves lack a quality point guard in their rotation and may find it difficult to contain the Spectres' dynamo guard.

SEABL WOMEN

Bendigo vs Ballarat
Victory this week to the Lady Braves will put them a win closer to a number one ladder position, and Bendigo will go into the contest confident having defeated Ballarat 74-61 in Round 5. Bendigo hold a six-game SEABL win streak against Ballarat, and have won their past three games
against the Lady Miners at the Schweppes Centre, including last year's Grand Final. The battle in the paint between Lady Miners Karen Ashby (19.6ppg, 10.2rpg, 4.3apg) and Gabrielle Richards (16.1ppg, 10.8rpg) is sure to have an impact on the game's final outcome.
Andrea Walsh (Bendigo) – 29 points to 4000

Albury/Wodonga vs Knox
After a disappointing overtime loss at home against NW Tasmania last round, Knox Raiders will be keen to return to the winner's circle this week against the refreshed Lady Bandits. Albury/Wodonga has had the last two weeks off and will be keen for a victory to end their three-game losing streak. Canberra Capitals WNBL coach Carrie Graf has been giving Albury/Wodonga valuable advice during their two-week break, and Lady Bandits coach Evan Bennett will be keen for his team to showcase what they have learnt and defeat the Raiders for the first time since joining the league last year.

Launceston vs Frankston
Frankston hold a 21-12 head-to-head overall record against Launceston, but struggled against the Tornadoes last week, losing 96-101 at home. New Zealand coach Mike McHugh will be watching this game with interest as his back court duo battles it out. Lady Blues Kate McMeekan- Ruscoe had 33pts last week against the Tornadoes, and will be hoping for another solid contribution, only this time wanting the win as well.

Southern Districts vs Kilsyth
Kilsyth recorded a 76-75 victory in Round 4, and have since added experienced players Lil Keane and Desiree Glaubitz which can only give Lady Spartans Donna Rinaldi bigger headaches leading into the match. Southern Districts are struggling behind a five-game losing streak and need a victory this week to stay in contention of a finals berth, otherwise they will miss post-season action for the first time in over 15 years.

Nunawading vs Bendigo
Bendigo has defeated Nunawading twice already this season, and will be keen to secure the sweep this week. Andrea Walsh (17.7ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.1spg) has been recording consistent numbers for her team and is a valuable asset to the Lady Braves. Nunawading will have to concentrate on limiting her options, as she is capable of winning a game for her team if left open. Nunawading have dropped to fifth on the ladder and need a victory this week to stay in the hunt for a finals berth.

NW Tasmania vs Frankston
Confidence is high in the NW Tasmania camp after a successful 2-0 road trip. Kristen Veal (14.5ppg, 6.1rpg, 4.0apg) has been the prize mid-season recruit and is highlighting her name as an MVP candidate at season's end. Her experience and overall leadership has been a significant help to the young Lady Thunder side and they are in striking range of their first ever finals position if they can continue their current form. NW Tasmania recorded an 80-56 victory in Round 7, and with Veal only meeting her teammates prior to last match she is sure to
have a bigger impact on the game this time around.
