Opals to Play NZ for Gold

The Opals will take on New Zealand in their Commonwealth Game gold medal match on Thursday night after the Kiwi women defeated England at the Multi Purpose Venue on Tuesday.

New Zealand won 74-67 over a determined team of English athletes.

Angela Marino was the match top scorer with 16 points, which was only equalled by WNBA player Andrea Congreaves.

Defensive powerhouse, Donna Loffhagen, had 14 points for New Zealand, while Rosalee Mason had 15 for England.

The Opals play New Zealand on Thursday night at 8:15pm. Australia are the firm favourites.
