With their top two scorers missing for a double-header weekend, the Melbourne Tigers were looking for Sadele Threatt to step up and boy did he answer the call by winning the Player of the Week for Round 9.

Starting the weekend against Eltham, where the Tigers went down 122/120 in overtime, Threatt scored a massive 43 points consisting of 11/23 FG, 6/9 3-pointers and 15/16 free throws. Threatt registered a triple-double in the game with 10 rebounds and 11 assists capping off a huge game.

Game two for the weekend saw the Tigers lose to Sandringham 123/103, with Threatt scoring a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds (plus six assists).

For the second week running, the battle for POW honours was tough with some of the league's guns on fire:

* Simon Conn's 45 points and 17 rebounds against Werribee.
* Bobby Cunningham achieving his second triple-double weekend in succession with triple 13's in 13 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists.
* Piere Jallow scoring 32 points for the Broncos.
* Diamond Valley's Michael Petridis 29 points in a losing team to the Falcons.

BIGV WOMEN: PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MICHELLE BROGAN

Michelle Brogan becomes the first CW player to be awarded multiple Player of the Week awards for 2007, with her weekend of two double-doubles for the Tigers.

The Tigers managed to hold on by one point over the Cats at The Arena, with Brogan scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. Brogan shot at 8/10 from the field and 4/5 from the line, with her rebounding being at both ends, eight offensive and nine defensive.

In the second game for the weekend, Brogan's Tigers had a 16-point win over Sandringham with Brogan's contribution of 20 points and 15 rebounds again vital.

Other contenders this weekend included:

* Candice Rogers' 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Cats against Melbourne.
* Melissa Colcott getting 22 points and eight rebounds and Tess Meyer's 16 points and 14 rebounds in Dandenong's demolition of Bulleen.
* Waverley's Sharon Grieve's (20 points, 13 rebounds) and Carleigh Evans (13 points, 18 rebounds) not enough against Hume City's three-pronged attack of Tenille Cann and Sharin Milner (both 19 points) and Kellie Burbridge (17 points, 10 rebounds).
* Eltham's Suzi Rayment and Sam Creed both scoring 20 points in the Wildcats' win over Coburg. Creed also had 15 rebounds.
* Kellie Burbridge having a second strong performance for the weekend with 23 points and nine rebounds against Bulleen.
* Bulleen's Lauren Jeffers had a good weekend with 19 points against Hume City added with 11 points against Dandenong.
