The first half was an interesting contest with both teams playing offensive basketball. The Thunder stretched out to a handy lead early in the game and threatened to take the advantage through some brilliant team and individual performances but the Pioneers worked hard to bring themselves back into the contest. Armstrong hit a difficult shot at halftime to bring the margin back to four points in favour of the Pioneers. The second half saw the Pioneers gain some momentum and stretch the lead out with some great offensive play. The Thunder mounted several challenges but the Pioneers covered them with some great discipline and teamwork. The final quarter was similar to the third with both sides playing some real offensive basketball and exhibiting some great outside shooting.

Hobart led by as much as seven early in the quarter but team fouls brought the Spartans closer. The Chargers were up 33-26 at the end of the quarter but the Spartans made a stand in the second term, leading the game four minutes into the quarter. The Chargers came back to tie the game at halftime, 58-58. A technical foul at half time to the Spartans' coach gave the visitors a two-point lead soon after the break but the Spartans answered, leading the game by nine-points halfway through the quarter. The Spartans dominated the rest of the quarter to lead the game at three quarter time 89-75. The Spartans extended the lead with two minutes to go to win by 23 points.

In front of a near full house at the WIN Minerdome, the Ballarat Miners took on an undefeated Geelong Supercats outfit. Early into the game the Supercats' unbeaten run looked set to continue, taking a very handy lead early in the game. At the main break the Supercats led the Miners by 19 points and this was due to an unbelievable shooting display as the team shot at 60%. In the second half it was all Geelong after Miners veteran Ricky Daniels was fouled out after receiving a questionable unsportsmanlike foul then two technical fouls. At this point Miners coach Matt Shanahan played a lot of his younger players off the bench with Geelong going on to win 138 to 99, with Shawn Myers hitting 32 for the winners and for the Miners it was youngster Adam McSwain hitting 15 points.

In the top-of-the-table clash between the Ballarat Lady Miners and the Bendigo Lady Braves it was all Ballarat in the first half, getting a very early jump on Bendigo to take a 17-point lead into the main break. This was due to some great shooting by Kellie Abram and Lynly Doherty and the inside presence of Karen Ashby. In the second half Ballarat came out firing to go out to a 23-point lead before Bendigo tightened up its defence to get within seven points of Ballarat early in the final quarter. But as top sides do Ballarat with stood Bendigo's come back to record the win.

Spartans took the early lead but teh Tornadoes came back towards the end of the first to only be down by three at the end of the quarter. The Spartans again stretched the lead to five, but only to have the Tornadoes come back. The Tornadoes led by five going into the break but the Spartans came back to within one point before the Tornadoes stopped the comeback, leading by
five with two minutes to go. A Spartans comeback was not enough, with the Tornadoes winning the game.

In a game between two teams expected to challenge for the Championship, this clash let none of the fans in attendance down, with the game living up to all the hype.

The Spectres came out focused and held a significant 13-point lead going into the second quarter. In the second quarter the Spectres maintained their dominance of the game and extended their lead, going into halftime 44 to 28 in front. The Blues could make no inroads and the Spectres continued to dominate, leading by 26 points going into the final quarter. The last term saw the Spectres play most of their bench and score a convincing 95-66 win.
