Boom time for Dragons fans
7/06/2007
South Dragons fans have just three weeks left to renew their membership and save their seats for the 2007-’08 season!
Existing members have until the end of the month to sign on to the South Dragons' cause and retain their priority seats at Vodafone Arena. All seats that have not been renewed by foundation members ahead of the June 30 deadline will be re-allocated - get in quick!
For Dragons fans who just can’t wait for the team's September 22 tip-off, get along to see the Australia Post Boomers take on the New Zealand Tall Blacks at Vodafone Arena on Monday August 20.
The Boomers are set to revive their fierce and long-standing rivalry with the trans-Tasman Tall Blacks in a battle of epic proportions; be there to witness history.
The Melbourne clash is the first leg in a best-of-three series to decide which nation will advance to the Olympic Games in Beijing, 2008.
With the South Dragons’ own Joe Ingles and Jacob Holmes up for selection in the Boomers squad, the August 20 showdown promises non-stop action and excitement from a host of home-grown stars.
But the boys can't do it alone. The Boomers face a huge assignment in taking on the Tall Blacks and will be counting on a massive home crowd to cheer them on to victory.
The Boomers downed the Kiwis in a cliffhanger to claim gold at the Commonwealth Games last year, and national coach Brian Goorjian knows this series will be just as tough.
“We don’t have any advantage over New Zealand,” he said.
“It puts a lot of pressure on the team to play at our absolute best.
"We’re up against it now and we’ll need all the crowd support we can get.”
Tickets for the trans-Tasman showdown go on sale at 12pm tomorrow. Get in quick to secure your seat and cheer our boys all the way to Beijing.
