The Boomers are set to revive their fierce and long-standing rivalry with the trans-Tasman Tall Blacks in a battle of epic proportions; be there to witness history.

The Melbourne clash is the first leg in a best-of-three series to decide which nation will directly advance to the Olympic Games in Beijing, 2008, with plenty of action and excitement from a host of home-grown stars.

But the boys can't do it alone. The Boomers face a huge assignment in taking on the Tall Blacks and will be counting on a massive home crowd to cheer them on to victory.

The Boomers downed the Kiwis in a cliffhanger to claim gold at the Commonwealth Games last year, and national coach Brian Goorjian knows this series will be just as tough.

“We don’t have any advantage over New Zealand,” he said.

“It puts a lot of pressure on the team to play at our absolute best.

"We’re up against it now and we’ll need all the crowd support we can get.”
