Hyams off to Israel

Former Singapore Slingers rookie and highlight machine Eban Hyams has signed a three-year deal with Israeli superpower Galil Elyon.
In what has been an ongoing testament to the capabilities of local Australian talent, Hyams now joins a long list of heralded players talented enough to make it overseas.
Originally from India, the 6’4” combo guard played his collegiate ball at Coastal Georgia Community College before moving to Georgia Perimeter College in 2003. Upon his return to Australia, Hyams excelled at the ABA Waratah level suiting up for Bruce Bolden's Hornsby Spiders and later for the Sydney Comets.
Hyams joined the Slingers last season in their inaugural NBL campaign, playing back-up to NBL All-Star Mike Helms. Despite limited minutes, Hyams showcased glimpses of his skill set, allowing Head Coach Gordie McLeod the luxury of resting his star import without compromising the Slingers strategy.
“Given the opportunity to play a season under Coach Mcleod and the Singapore staff did wonders for my game,” Hyams said. "Most importantly, I feel that he prepared me for what it takes to become a professional basketball player. The facilities in Singapore were second to none and I have no doubt that without my season there, I would not have been prepared the way I am for the highly competitive Israeli League."
Hyams received five different invitations from various Division 1 Israeli Clubs but the former Slingers guard chose Galil Elyon, who offered him a three-year deal.
Galil Elyon, the third best club in the Israeli league behind powerhouses Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Jerusalem, have stated that they are immensely impressed with the athletic guards ability to get to the rim, handle and rebounding prowess.
Galil Elyon have also stated that Hyams has been identified as a player with exceptional upside, one representative expressing that the Israeli franchise is pleased that Hyams is part of their future and they see a lot of potential in the young Australian.
Hyams now joins future NBA lottery pick Omri Casspi at Galil Elyon, whose roster also produced the 2006 Houston Rockets draftee Lior Eliyahu
